Dr Shelley Wiltshire is a female Veterinarian.
Shelley is excited to be living and working in her husbands’ home town of Albury, moving here after years of experience in country Victoria, Canberra and Melbourne.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne, Shelley worked with all creatures great and small in central Victoria at a country practice.
A desire to use her skills in a voluntary role lead Shelley to the tropics, where she treated all kinds of animals on Rarotonga, in the Cook Islands. She has also worked in a very busy veterinary hospital in Canberra, where her passion for emergency medicine began to develop.
Following further study through the University of Sydney, Shelley moved to Melbourne to work in a 24-hour specialist referral hospital, where she worked in the intensive care unit. Having additional formal qualifications in emergency and critical care, Shelley finds using these skills to save the lives of animals with severe illness or injury to be one of the most rewarding aspects of her job.
Prior to moving to the border, Shelley worked as a locum vet at various practices including gaining the full outback experience in Broken Hill. She has also worked at a large shelter in Melbourne (RSPCA Burwood East), and is a strong advocate for pet adoption and fostering. She has two rescue dogs (a Kelpie cross and a Jack Russell cross), and has fostered a one-eyed cat and two cheeky guinea pigs.
Dr Shelley enjoys supporting and sharing knowledge with other veterinarians, and is an official mentor for veterinarians who are sitting examinations to become members of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, as well as being an official mentor for the Australian Veterinary Association New Graduate Mentor Program. She has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound through the University of Melbourne achieving First Class Honours.
