Dr Peter Young

BVSc (Hons), MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery), Veterinarian

Dr Peter Young is a male Veterinarian.

Many pet owners on the border will know Dr Peter Young, who is a very experienced veterinarian with a special interest in surgery.

He has been a veterinarian for 38 years, and previously owned his own practice in Albury. Over the years, Dr. Young has pursued many academic endeavours including becoming a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, as well as working as a lecturer, researcher and referral surgeon at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga.

In 2016 and 2017, Dr Young was an examiner for veterinarians undertaking advanced studies through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Dr Young is also a PennHIP certified veterinarian (PennHIP is a scientific method to evaluate a dog for its susceptibility to develop hip dysplasia).

His hobbies include karate and trekking at altitude. Peter started training for karate at a relatively late age, and now is a 3rd Dan. He has competed at the Karate World Championships in Okinawa, which many consider to be the birthplace of karate.

He has trekked in Nepal on three occasions and has also spent some time in the India Himalayas, where he volunteered for Vets Beyond Borders performing desexing on local dogs. He has also been a volunteer vet at the iconic Iditarod Dog sled Race in Alaska. His adventurous and generous spirit has also seen him provide veterinary services to remote aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.

We are lucky to have such a skilled surgeon on staff and the entire team is learning so much from working with him.
