Dr Michael Chia is a male Veterinarian.

Hamilton Hill Vet Dr Michael Chia has lived locally in Spearwood since the good ol' 90s. From an early age, Michael wanted to be a biologist or a vet, inspired by David Attenborough & Jacques Cousteau documentaries and the semi-autobiographical books of James Herriot. He earned an honours degree in zoology for research on tropical fish anaesthesia, before undertaking veterinary studies at Murdoch University. After qualifying as a vet in 2001, he worked in various busy practices in Perth, including the Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital, as an emergency vet clinician and vet registrar for 4 years.

Dr Mike loves surgery especially orthopaedic procedures and has attended post-graduate training courses on cranial cruciate ligament rupture repair, medial patella luxation correction, and the use of locking plates for fracture repair. He has also completed the AOVet post-graduate courses on fracture management principles and advanced fracture repair techniques.

Michael co-authored the surgery chapter in a fish medicine textbook and has submitted a novel canine case report that was accepted for peer-reviewed publication in the international Journal of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (JVECC).
