Dr Doug Edlington is a male Veterinarian.
After graduating as a Veterinarian from The University of Queensland in 1994 Doug started a research master degree in fertility in Bos indicus cattle whilst working in mixed practice at St George, QLD During this time, he gained valuable skills in all aspects of Equine, Bovine and Small Animal medicine, including orthopaedic surgery.
In 1996 Doug purchased a mixed practice in Glen Innes where he established the Glen Innes Equine Reproduction Centre. The centre stood up to 13 stallions at peak times and covered all aspects of equine reproductive medicine including artificial insemination, embryo transfer and semen collection. During this time Doug made his first trip to the US completing an externship programme at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky USA.
In 2003 Doug took up a position as resident Veterinarian on a thoroughbred stud in Queensland where he managed to gain valuable skills in the field of Thoroughbred stud medicine and in 2004 he was employed as a locum vet at Lark Hills Vets, Western Australia where he managed the reproductive unit.
A strong interest in Equine Dentistry led him to take up an internship with Doctor Jack Easley in 2005 (Kentucky USA) where he developed valuable skills in Basic and Advanced Equine Dentistry.
After this Doug joined the team at Satur Veterinary Hospital in Scone where his main focus was on Equine reproduction and stud medicine as well as Advanced Equine Dentistry and surgery.
In 2007 Doug became Director of Doctor Ed’s Equine Veterinary Services and started to perform contract work for many clients – some highlights include providing services to the elite polo ponies at Ellerston and valuable referral dentistry work at Newcastle Equine Hospital as well as looking after beloved kids pony club horses.
Since 2011 Doug and his wife Lara operate Doctor Ed’s Equine Veterinary Services in Tamworth with a focus on equine reproduction, sports and performance horse medicine and advanced equine dentistry.
