Dr Alex Mastakov

BVSc (JCU), MVM, FANZCVS (Avian Medicine and Surgery), Veterinarian

Dr Alex Mastakov is a male Veterinarian.

I graduated from James Cook University in 2013 and worked in a variety of veterinary practices in QLD and NSW (mixed, small animal, and avian/exotic). After which I relocated to Gatton to undertake an avian medicine and surgery residency and Doctor of veterinary clinic science postgraduate degree at the University of Queensland in 2018 under Dr Bob Doneley.

I have completed an externship in avian medicine and surgery at the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital and a Master of Veterinary Medicine Degree through Massey University. I attained membership in the Avian Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2018 and completed my residency in Avian Medicine and Surgery in 2021.

I have a keen interest in avian pain therapy, anaesthesia, and surgery. My post-graduate thesis focused on the use of alfaxalone anaesthesia in birds.
